Clashes erupted across several areas
\nin northern Syria on Saturday night during Nowruz celebrations, the Kurdish new
\nyear, following incidents involving national symbols and attacks on civilians, according
\nto Shafaq News correspondent.<\/p>\n
The unrest began in Kobani after a
\nman removed the Syrian flag during a public celebration, triggering retaliatory
\nincidents in other areas, particularly in Afrin and parts of the Aleppo
\ncountryside. Kurdish celebrants were reportedly assaulted, while Kurdistan
\nflags were removed from vehicles and desecrated.<\/p>\n
In Qamishli, protesters stormed a
\npublic security building, vandalized vehicles, and took down the Syrian flag.
\nInternal security forces deployed in force, securing the airport perimeter and
\nblocking roads leading to security facilities to contain the situation.<\/p>\n
Presidential team spokesperson Ahmad
\nal-Hilali, in remarks carried by local media outlets, condemned attacks on
\nnational symbols and rejected retaliatory violence against civilians, stressing
\nthat only state institutions are authorized to hold violators accountable. <\/p>\n
The Kurdish National
\nCouncil also denounced the incidents as \u201ca threat to coexistence and an attempt to
\nincite division,\u201d urging authorities to act swiftly to restore order.<\/p>\n
Security forces announced the arrest
\nof the individual involved in the Kobani incident and denounced the broader
