LEBANON, N.H. (WCAX) – Having your artwork displayed in a gallery is the goal of many aspiring artists. At the AVA gallery in Lebanon, high school students get that opportunity once a year. <\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s how I express my creativity,\u201d said sophomore Marina Lane. They say art is a stress reliever, and animation is their specialty. <\/p>\n
\u201cI can achieve more with digital animation than I really can with traditional art,\u201d they said. <\/p>\n
Lane\u2019s ballerina is one of more than 100 works currently on display at the AVA Gallery for the 18th annual high school exhibition. <\/p>\n
Lebanon freshman Barrett Nesbit\u2019s passion is photography. His photo called \u201cLone Wanderer\u201d won best in category. <\/p>\n
\u201cIt helps me express my passion of the beauty of the world,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n
The pieces include a plethora of genres of art, from ceramics, drawings, mixed media, paintings, photography, sculptures, to even wearable art. They were nominated by teachers from 14 high schools across the Upper Valley. <\/p>\n
\u201cI feel it is just something that takes something ordinary and makes it really beautiful,\u201d says Lebanon sophomore Jasper Frye-Matte, who has a photograph in the show. <\/p>\n
Gallery officials say the exhibit shows the community what the next generation is capable of. <\/p>\n
\u201cThe world of arts is so important,\u201d said Peili Heitzman of the AVA gallery. \u201cI think especially now, cultivating a new generation of young people who know they can pursue a career in the arts is so important.\u201d<\/p>\n
The exhibition runs through March 28th, and is free and open to the public. <\/p>\n
