While the coalition of countries helping the United States and Israel\u2019s military operation in Iran<\/a> is small at the moment, U.S. Sen. Rick Scott<\/a> believes help is on the way.<\/p>\n

And if not, he says further conflicts with the Islamic Republic are likely.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think more countries are going to show up to try to open up the Strait of Hormuz. But I think, you know, we\u2019re going to continue. (We) have to eliminate their ability to do this. And if we don\u2019t, all right, we\u2019re going to be doing this every few years,\u201d the Naples Republican said on \u201cSquawk Box<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n

President\u00a0Donald Trump<\/a> said this week that he\u2019s allowing five days for negotiations<\/a> with Tehran, and has suggested he believes regime change has already happened through the assassination of various leaders in recent weeks.<\/p>\n

Scott doesn\u2019t seem to agree, at least in terms of the U.S. having a new leader with whom we can bargain. He also argues that degrading the country\u2019s military capabilities is an important objective even amid potential negotiation.<\/p>\n

\u201cWith regard to Iran, we don\u2019t have somebody yet. Am I hopeful? Absolutely. But what\u2019s important to me is to destroy all their ability to kill us. I mean, you can hope for a regime change, but in the meantime, let\u2019s destroy their ability to kill more Americans, and then hope for the best.\u201d<\/p>\n

Scott thinks that the next few days are pivotal, and what happens next \u201ccompletely depends on Iran.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is not a President who wants to be in a war forever. He still doesn\u2019t want forever wars. He doesn\u2019t want boots on the ground. But Iran\u2019s going to have to make a decision,\u201d Scott said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m hopeful that the people of Iran will be able to change their leadership to where we get somebody that wants to be a friend to the world instead of this crap that they want to destroy the Middle East and try to destroy Israel and destroy Americans like they have been doing for 47 years. I\u2019m hopeful.
