Iraq\u2019s oil production has fallen by about 80% to around
\n800,000 barrels per day (bpd), down from roughly 4.3 million bpd before the war
\nin Iran disrupted exports through the Strait of Hormuz, Iraqi energy officials
\ntold Reuters on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
Officials said Iraq ordered further production cuts this
\nweek, including reducing output at the Rumaila field to about 350,000 bpd from
\naround 450,000, and lowering production at the Zubair field by 70,000 bpd from
\ncurrent levels of 330,000.<\/p>\n
Earlier this month, economic expert Nabil Al-Marsoumi said The developments come amid escalating strikes on energy
\nthat Iraq, OPEC’s second-largest producer, has cut<\/a> its oil production by about
\n2.9 million bpd, making it the country with the largest production reduction
\nglobally.<\/p>\n
\ninfrastructure across the region since February 28, including US and Israeli
\nattacks on Iran\u2019s South Pars gas field. Energy expert Mazen Al-Saad told Shafaq
\nNews that Iraq\u2019s reliance on oil revenues, accounting for about 90% of the
\neconomy, along with disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz and tightening storage
\ncapacity, could expose the country to economic pressure and export constraints
\nif the conflict continues.<\/p>\n
