{"id":40565,"date":"2026-03-28T22:31:09","date_gmt":"2026-03-28T22:31:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/iran\/40565\/"},"modified":"2026-03-28T22:31:09","modified_gmt":"2026-03-28T22:31:09","slug":"israel-kills-3-journalists-in-lebanon-including-reporter-for-hezbollah-run-broadcaster-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/iran\/40565\/","title":{"rendered":"Israel kills 3 journalists in Lebanon, including reporter for Hezbollah-run broadcaster"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img alt=\"Ali Shuaib, a correspondent for Hezbollah's Al Manar TV, who was killed in an Israeli strike in Jezzine with two other journalists on Saturday, March 28, 2026, pictured here in Marjayoun town on Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2024. - Hussein Malla\/AP\/File\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"960\" height=\"540\" decoding=\"async\" data-nimg=\"1\" class=\"standard-img w-full w-full h-auto\" style=\"color:transparent\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/iran\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/11968f3d2e260cf6ee6cfb9977edb4e1.jpeg\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Ali Shuaib, a correspondent for Hezbollah&#8217;s Al Manar TV, who was killed in an Israeli strike in Jezzine with two other journalists on Saturday, March 28, 2026, pictured here in Marjayoun town on Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2024. &#8211; Hussein Malla\/AP\/File<\/p>\n<p>A Lebanese reporter working for a Hezbollah-owned television network was among three journalists killed in an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2026\/03\/21\/middleeast\/lebanon-this-war-is-different-intl?cid=external-feeds_iluminar_yahoo\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:Israeli strike in Lebanon;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link rapid-noclick-resp\">Israeli strike in Lebanon<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Hezbollah-owned Al Manar television said its journalist Ali Shuaib was killed in an Israeli strike targeting the vehicle he was in.<\/p>\n<p>The Israeli military accused Shuaib of being \u201ca terrorist\u201d operating under the \u201cguise of a journalist\u201d who was exposing locations of Israeli soldiers in southern Lebanon.<\/p>\n<p>Al Manar called Shuaib an \u201cicon of resistance media\u201d in its report announcing his death.<\/p>\n<p>The Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) said it was investigating the attack, adding that \u201cjournalists are not legitimate targets, regardless of the outlet they work for.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have seen a disturbing pattern in this war and in the decades prior of Israel accusing journalists of being active combatants and terrorists without providing credible evidence,\u201d the CPJ <a href=\"https:\/\/cpj.org\/2026\/03\/israeli-strike-on-media-car-targets-kills-3-journalists-in-south-lebanon\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:said;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link rapid-noclick-resp\">said <\/a>in its statement.<\/p>\n<p>Two other journalists, siblings Fatima and Mohammad Ftouni, were also killed in the Israeli strike, the pro-Iran and pro-Hezbollah Al Mayadeen channel said, with the Lebanese presidency calling the attack a \u201cblatant crime.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOnce again, the Israeli aggression is violating the most basic rules of international laws and international humanitarian law and the laws of war, by targeting press reporters, who are ultimately civilians performing a professional duty,\u201d the presidency posted on X.<\/p>\n<p>The Israeli statement did not mention the other two journalists killed.<\/p>\n<p>Lebanon\u2019s information minister, Paul Morcos, said at a press conference that the government will file a complaint with the UN Security Council over what he described as Israel\u2019s \u201cdeliberate and blatant war crime against the media and the mission of journalism.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe adhere to international agreements that prioritize positive distinction for journalists, ensuring their protection and neutrality in times of war,\u201d Morcos said.<\/p>\n<p>Israel is carrying out an escalating offensive against the Iran-allied Hezbollah militant group in southern Lebanon.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis vest was supposed to protect my colleagues\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Al Mayadeen posted footage of what it said was Fatima and Mohammad Ftouni\u2019s father saying that he was \u201ctruly proud of them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs a father to them, I hold my head up high,\u201d he said. \u201cThe eye (fills with) tears, the heart is in pain, and the walk continues. Al-Gharabi held up a bullet-proof vest marked \u201cpress\u201d in Arabic, its bottom edge torn.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis vest, this vest was supposed to protect my colleagues,\u201d he said, his voice breaking. He began to shout. \u201cYes, this vest was supposed to protect them!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Al-Gharabi picked up another vest, saying it belonged to Fatima Ftouni.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat can this vest do in the face of Israel\u2019s aggression?\u201d Al-Gharabi said. \u201cWhere are international laws that protect journalists and civilians?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The scene mirrored one two years ago, when Fatima Ftouni said she survived an October 2024 Israeli strike that the CPJ <a href=\"https:\/\/cpj.org\/2024\/10\/3-killed-3-hurt-in-israeli-strike-on-journalists-compound-in-lebanon\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:said;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link rapid-noclick-resp\">said <\/a>hit a compound housing 18 journalists in southern Lebanon, killing two journalists and a media worker.
