ZOE BLAIR THIS MORNING. ZOE, WHAT ARE THEY DOING TO HONOR HIM TODAY? WELL, SCOTT SILVA, HIS FUNERAL WILL BEGIN HERE AT TRUSSVILLE FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH AT 11 A.M. TRUSSVILLE MAYOR BEN SCHWARTZ SAYING THIS IS A MOMENT TO PAUSE, REFLECT AND HONOR A HERO. MAJOR WHO HAD RECENTLY MOVED TO TRUSSVILLE WITH HIS WIFE AND THREE YOUNG CHILDREN. BUT HE GREW UP IN AUBURN AND GRADUATED FROM AUBURN UNIVERSITY. HE WAS A MEMBER OF THE BIRMINGHAM BASED 99TH AIR REFUELING SQUADRON AND THE 117TH AIR REFUELING WING. HONORED SACRIFICE SATURDAY AS HIS REMAINS WERE RETURNED TO ALABAMA DURING A DIGNIFIED CEREMONY AT CENTRE SMITH AIR NATIONAL GUARD BASE. HE\u2019S DESCRIBED AS A DEVOTED HUSBAND, A LOVING FATHER, AND THE KIND OF PERSON WHO WOULD STEP IN TO HELP ANYONE. THE VOID ALEX LEAVES CANNOT BE FILLED AND WILL NOT BE FILLED. BUT WE ARE BANDING TOGETHER AS A COMMUNITY OF PEOPLE THAT LOVES HIM AND LIBBY AND THOSE CHILDREN TO DO OUR BEST TO SUPPORT THEM THROUGH THIS TIME. Governor Kay Ivey has ordered all flags be flown at half-staff today as he is laid to rest. Major Klinner had recently moved to Trussville with his wife and three young children, all under the age of three. He was a member of the Birmingham-based 99th Refueling Squadron.The 117th Air Refueling Wing honored Klinner&#8217;s sacrifice Saturday as his remains were returned to Alabama during a dignified return ceremony at Sumpter Smith Air National Guard Base. He is described as a devoted husband, a loving father, and the kind of person who would step in to help anyone.&#8221;Our whole world shattered on March 12th when Alex and his crew were on that plane that crashed in Iraq. And it was really a reminder that our freedom is not free and that it&#8217;s a debt that cannot be repaid,&#8221; said Sarah Rose Harrill, Klinner&#8217;s sister-in-law.The memorial service will begin at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Trussville. The community is invited to attend.
