The conflict has left more than 3,000 dead and caused major disruptions to the world\u2019s supply of oil and natural gas, roiling global markets and pushing up the cost of many basic goods.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Trump, who has vacillated between insisting there is progress in diplomatic talks with Iran and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/iran-us-israel-trump-lebanon-march-30-2026-8abb0ee50be4cd8dd9ddde3a9d846ef8\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">threatening to widen the war<\/a>, had earlier shared footage of the attack on Isfahan.<\/p>\n<p>Fuel prices rise, rattling global markets<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Iran\u2019s stranglehold on the Strait of Hormuz, the waterway leading out of the Persian Gulf through which a fifth of the world\u2019s oil is transported during peacetime, has\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/middle-east-wars-energy-asia-russia-crude-oil-ea90f06d9f35fe4bb977f068d2c6ef27\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">driven up global oil prices<\/a>, as have Tehran\u2019s attacks on regional energy infrastructure.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Spot prices of Brent crude, the international standard, hovered around $107 a barrel Tuesday, up more than 45% since the war started Feb. 28.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Trump directed blame at U.S. allies like the United Kingdom and France that\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/iran-us-war-trump-starmer-macron-germany-caff1073f932ddb88c3d75c7c356ebc7\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">have refused to enter a war<\/a>\u00a0with no clear endgame that they were not consulted on.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cYou\u2019ll have to start learning how to fight for yourself, the U.S.A. won\u2019t be there to help you anymore, just like you weren\u2019t there for us. Go get your own oil!\u201d Trump wrote.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">He singled out France for not letting planes fly over French territory while taking military supplies to Israel.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">France has allowed the U.S. Air Force to use the Istres base in southern France because it had guarantees that planes landing there would not be involved in carrying out strikes.<\/p>\n<p>The conflict in Iran is pushing gas prices toward a high not seen since 2022. (CNN, WOIO, WSTM, POOL, TRUTH SOCIAL)Allies have refused to get involved<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Spain, which has emerged as Europe\u2019s loudest critic of the war, said Monday that it had\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/trump-spain-united-states-iran-war-05e23ef4e0bda9cb226a16b10cd9437c\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">closed its airspace<\/a>\u00a0for U.S. planes involved in the conflict.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Italy recently refused to allow U.S. military assets to use the Sigonella air base in Sicily for an operation linked to the offensive, an official with knowledge of the matter said, confirming a local press report. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak publicly.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Italy\u2019s Defense Minister Guido Crosetto wrote on X that Italy is still allowing the U.S. to use its bases, adding that there has been no cooling of relations between the two countries.<\/p>\n<p>A journalist is kidnapped in Iraq<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">In Iraq, the Interior Ministry said a foreign journalist was kidnapped in the country.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Two Iraqi security officials said the kidnapped journalist was a woman with U.S. citizenship and that two cars were involved in the kidnapping, one of which crashed and was apprehended, while the car carrying the journalist fled the scene. The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to publicly discuss the case.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">It was not immediately clear if the kidnapping was related to the Iran war.
