{"id":47227,"date":"2026-04-01T18:23:24","date_gmt":"2026-04-01T18:23:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/iran\/47227\/"},"modified":"2026-04-01T18:23:24","modified_gmt":"2026-04-01T18:23:24","slug":"uks-reeves-angry-over-trumps-decision-to-attack-iran-politico","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/iran\/47227\/","title":{"rendered":"UK\u2019s Reeves \u2018angry\u2019 over Trump\u2019s decision to attack Iran \u2013 POLITICO"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>After reaching their lowest point since Oct. 2024 before the invasion, yields on 10-year U.K. government bonds have now soared to their highest since the 2008 financial crisis.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Deutsche Bank has estimated that the increase has already stripped between \u00a37 billion and \u00a310 billion from the chancellor\u2019s \u00a323.6 billion fiscal headroom.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe costs of borrowing for government have gone through the roof,\u201d Reeves noted in the interview. \u201cThis country hasn&#8217;t done anything to cause those prices to rise, but the decision of Donald Trump, the decision that Keir Starmer and this government did not want any part of and are trying to de-escalate, is causing real hardship for people now.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think that people can see that what Trump has done in the Middle East is going to cause economic challenges all around the world, with potentially higher inflation, weaker growth and weaker tax receipts,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n<p>The Middle East war is the latest episode that has put Europe at odds with Trump\u2019s America.
