The application is then sent to a specific regional unit of the IRGC Navy, which conducts a security review to ensure the ship has no links to states considered hostile, such as the United States or Israel. Following this check, a financial arrangement is negotiated starting from a five-tiered schedule, with the lowest prices offered to vessels from favored nations.<\/p>\n<p>The minimum price for these transactions is approximately one dollar per barrel for tankers, or two million dollars for a Very Large Crude Carrier. Upon receiving payment in the specified currencies, the IRGC issues a single-use pass code for the strait transit. The vessel then proceeds to a checkpoint between Qeshm and Larak, transmits the code, and receives an Iranian security escort for the remainder of its journey into the Gulf of Oman.<\/p>\n<p>Some nations have reportedly negotiated arrangements for their flagged ships to transit without charge. Pakistan, for instance, received permission for twenty of its ships to exit, fourteen more than it required, and has been offering its unused slots to large shipowners.
