{"id":49683,"date":"2026-04-03T08:34:08","date_gmt":"2026-04-03T08:34:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/iran\/49683\/"},"modified":"2026-04-03T08:34:08","modified_gmt":"2026-04-03T08:34:08","slug":"financial-times-erases-hezbollahs-violation-of-lebanons-sovereignty-camera-uk","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/iran\/49683\/","title":{"rendered":"Financial Times erases Hezbollah&#8217;s violation of Lebanon&#8217;s sovereignty < CAMERA UK"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"o-topper__headline\">A Financial Times article (\u201cIsrael to \u2018demolish\u2019 all houses in Lebanese border villages\u201d, March 31) credited to <a href=\"https:\/\/camera-uk.org\/topic\/james-shotter\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\">James Shotter<\/a>\u00a0in Jerusalem and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ft.com\/raya-jalabi\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external noreferrer nofollow\" data-wpel-link=\"external\">Raya Jalabi<\/a> in Beirut, devotes most of the 700 word piece to Israeli plans to \u00a0maintain \u201csecurity control\u201d over \u201clarge swaths\u201d of southern Lebanon.\u00a0 <\/p>\n<p class=\"o-topper__headline\">Though the FT journalists do quote Israel\u2019s defence minister explaining that the IDF\u2019s presence is aimed to protect its northern towns from the threat posed by Hezbollah\u2019s continued presence, they don\u2019t even once so much as allude to the November 2024 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.timesofisrael.com\/full-text-the-israel-hezbollah-ceasefire-deal\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external noreferrer nofollow\" data-wpel-link=\"external\">ceasefire agreement<\/a> between Lebanon and Israel. <\/p>\n<p class=\"o-topper__headline\">The resolution requires the implementation of<a href=\"https:\/\/unscr.com\/en\/resolutions\/1701\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external noreferrer nofollow\" data-wpel-link=\"external\"> UN SC resolution 1701<\/a>, calling for disarmament of \u201call armed groups\u201d other than the Lebanese army, both south and norther of the Litani River.<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s the relevant paragraph:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese understandings reflect steps to which Israel and Lebanon are committed in order to implement fully United Nations Security Council Resolution (UNSCR) 1701, recognizing that UNSCR 1701 also calls for full implementation of its predecessor UNSC resolutions,\u00a0including \u201cdisarmament of all armed groups in Lebanon\u201d, so that the only forces authorized to carry arms in Lebanon will be the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF), Internal Security Forces, Directorate of General Security, General Directorate of State Security, Lebanese Customs, and Municipal Police (hereinafter \u201cLebanon\u2019s official military and security forces\u201d). [\u2026]<\/p>\n<p>The omission of Hezbollah\u2019s violation of the <a href=\"https:\/\/camera-uk.org\/topic\/ceasefire-lebanon-november-2024\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\">2024 ceasefire agreement<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/camera-uk.org\/topic\/un-sc-resolution-1701\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\">UNSCR 1701<\/a>, which the agreement is largely based on, means that readers are provided with a story focusing almost entirely on Israel\u2019s actions while denying agency to the Shiite terrorist group.<\/p>\n<p>Though the article does focus on \u201cfears\u201d that Israel \u201cis preparing for a lasting occupation of Lebanese territory\u201d, readers are told nothing about the fears of the <a href=\"https:\/\/news.gallup.com\/poll\/699071\/lebanese-say-army-weapons.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external noreferrer nofollow\" data-wpel-link=\"external\">overwhelming majority<\/a> of Lebanese citizens about Hezbollah, the proscribed Iranian proxy group that has been illegally occupying large swaths of Lebanon while terrorising Israel\u2019s northern communities.<\/p>\n<p>The FT article ends by reporting the following:<\/p>\n<p>Lebanon\u2019s health ministry has recorded more than 1,268 deaths during the fighting, including children, women and medical personnel and rescue workers.
