Flightradar24 recorded a US Air Force F-35 sending a distress signal over Iraq near the Kuwait border amid reports of recent American aircraft losses.<\/p>\n
According to\u00a0Flightradar24, a\u00a0fifth-generation F-35 Lightning II\u00a0fighter operated by\u00a0the US\u00a0Air Force transmitted a\u00a0distress signal over Iraqi airspace on\u00a0April 6. Monitoring data showed that the aircraft was near the Iraq-Kuwait border at\u00a0the time.<\/p>\n
The F-35 was flying at\u00a0an\u00a0altitude of\u00a0about nine kilometers when the emergency signal was sent. What exactly happened during the flight remains unclear. The only confirmed detail is\u00a0that the signal came from the same area where a\u00a0US\u00a0F-15 was shot down on\u00a0April 3. It\u00a0was also noted that the F-35 had periodically disappeared from aircraft tracking systems.<\/p>\n
Earlier, CNN reported that the United States had lost at\u00a0least seven combat aircraft since the start of\u00a0the war in\u00a0Iran. According to\u00a0the channel, those losses included three F-15 fighters brought down by\u00a0Kuwaiti air defense systems in\u00a0incidents of\u00a0friendly fire, as\u00a0well as\u00a0a\u00a0KC-135 refueling aircraft that crashed in\u00a0Iraq.<\/p>\n
