Israeli opposition leader Yair Lapid criticized the ceasefire agreement between the U.S. and Iran, calling it a political disaster for Israel.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere has never been such a political disaster in all of our history,\u201d Lapid wrote on the social media platform, X. \u201cIsrael wasn’t even at the table when decisions were made concerning the core of our national security.\u201d<\/p>\n
President Donald Trump on Tuesday announced there would be a two-week ceasefire agreement between Iran and the U.S.<\/p>\n
Trump repeatedly said that April 7 was the deadline for a deal to be made before the war escalated.<\/p>\n
Lapid criticized Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, saying he failed politically with this ceasefire deal.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe military carried out everything that was asked of it, the public demonstrated amazing resilience, but Netanyahu failed politically, failed strategically, and didn’t meet a single one of the goals that he himself set,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Lapid said that it would take years to repair political damage as a result of the deal.<\/a><\/p>\n \u201cIt will take us years to repair the political and strategic damage that Netanyahu wrought due to arrogance, negligence, and a lack of strategic planning,\u201d his post concluded.<\/p>\n
