The Kabul Tribune (KT) \u2014 The New Arab reported that Syria\u2019s foreign minister voiced support for the disarmament of Hezbollah while condemning Israeli strikes on Lebanon and criticizing Iran\u2019s role in Syria, highlighting shifting regional dynamics.

Speaking at a joint press conference in Ankara, Asaad al-Shaibani said, \u201cWe support the disarmament of Hezbollah and look forward to a strategic partnership with Beirut.\u201d

He described Israeli attacks on Lebanon as an escalation that undermines regional stability and warned that continued military actions could derail diplomatic efforts.

Shaibani also criticized Iran\u2019s involvement in Syria, saying it had contributed to widespread destruction, mass displacement, and prolonged conflict.
\n
Standing alongside Hakan Fidan, both officials addressed regional tensions and prospects for a broader ceasefire following a recently announced two-week truce between the United States and Iran.

Fidan welcomed the ceasefire and expressed hope it could expand into a comprehensive agreement that includes Lebanon, but warned that Israeli actions risk undermining negotiations.

The Syrian minister also said efforts to reach a security agreement with Israel had stalled, blaming what he described as Israel\u2019s expansionist policies and ongoing violations of Syrian sovereignty.

His remarks come amid continued tensions in the region following years of conflict in Syria and recent geopolitical shifts after the fall of former president Bashar al-Assad.
