Vice President JD Vance is leading the American delegation<\/a>, which includes U.S. Special Envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff and Donald Trump\u2019s son-in-law, Jared Kushner. <\/p>\n

Iran\u2019s Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi and Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf are representing Tehran.<\/p>\n

The Iranian delegation<\/a> is meeting with Pakistan\u2019s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and Tehran has set some preconditions to enter face-to-face talks with the Americans, including the release of Iranian frozen assets and a ceasefire in Lebanon, according to Iranian news agency Tasnim<\/a>. <\/p>\n

\u201cTwo of the measures mutually agreed upon between the parties have yet to be implemented<\/a>: a ceasefire in Lebanon and the release of Iran\u2019s blocked assets prior to the commencement of negotiations,\u201d Iran\u2019s parliamentary\u00a0speaker, Mohammad Bagher\u00a0Ghalibaf,\u00a0said in a post on X<\/a>. \u201cThese two matters must be fulfilled before negotiations begin.\u201d<\/p>\n

The inclusion of Lebanon in the ceasefire agreement is one of the most controversial issues<\/a> in the deal reached between the two sides. Tehran has said stopping raids on Lebanon was one of the conditions included in the deal, while the U.S. argues that it wasn\u2019t. \u00a0Israel conducted a massive attack on Lebanon<\/a> the day after the deal was announced.<\/p>\n
