GAZA\/RAMALLAH – At least six people were killed Saturday in an Israeli airstrike targeting a Palestinian police checkpoint in the Bureij refugee camp in central Gaza, according to Palestinian sources and eyewitnesses.<\/p>\n

Palestinian medical sources at al-Aqsa Hospital in Deir al-Balah reported that ambulances transported the bodies of at least six people killed and a number of wounded in the attack.<\/p>\n

There was no immediate comment from the Israeli military or Hamas.<\/p>\n

The Hamas-run interior authorities in Gaza have been gradually resuming operations in recent months by establishing checkpoints and repairing some of its security headquarters in the enclave.<\/p>\n

In response, the Israeli army targeted checkpoints and police vehicles in various parts of Gaza, resulting in deaths and injuries. Israel claimed these operations targeted armed elements or potential threats, despite a Gaza ceasefire agreement reached between Hamas and Israel, which went into effect in October 2025.<\/p>\n

Separately, five Palestinians were killed in a traffic accident south of Nablus in the northern West Bank on Saturday, according to official Palestinian sources.<\/p>\n
