{"id":66445,"date":"2026-04-14T08:28:22","date_gmt":"2026-04-14T08:28:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/iran\/66445\/"},"modified":"2026-04-14T08:28:22","modified_gmt":"2026-04-14T08:28:22","slug":"bp-flags-exceptional-oil-trading-performance-as-iran-war-chokes-supply","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/iran\/66445\/","title":{"rendered":"BP flags &#8216;exceptional&#8217; oil trading performance as Iran war chokes supply"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>British oil and gasoline company BP (British Petroleum) signage is being pictured in Warsaw, Poland, on July 29, 2024.<\/p>\n<p>Nurphoto | Nurphoto | Getty Images<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/BP\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">BP<\/a>&#8216;s oil trading desk enjoyed &#8220;exceptional&#8221; performance during the first quarter, the energy giant said on Tuesday, thanks to a windfall from the surge in oil prices since the start of the Iran war in late February.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.londonstockexchange.com\/news-article\/BP.\/1q26-bp-plc-trading-statement-part-1-of-1\/17544742\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">trading statement<\/a>, published ahead of official results due later this month, came after a similar update from rival Shell last week.<\/p>\n<p>But BP also told investors its net debt at the end of the first quarter was expected to be in the range of $25-27 billion, up from $22.2 billion in the fourth quarter, due to the need for increased working capital amid a more volatile price environment.<\/p>\n<p>BP&#8217;s first-quarter results are due to be published on April 28. <\/p>\n<p>Oil majors like BP and its peers are expected to see significant windfalls on the back of the U.S.-Iran war which has choked global supplies and sent oil and gas prices rocketing.
