Iraq’s National Center for International Judicial
\nCooperation handed over two suspects \u2014a juvenile holding Finnish citizenship
\nand another holding American citizenship\u2014 to the competent authorities in their
\nrespective countries, following confirmation that neither belonged to ISIS
\nterrorist networks.<\/p>\n
The center said
\nthe handover was completed after all legal and judicial procedures were
\nfinalized, within the framework of international judicial coordination and
\ncooperation, and as part of Iraq’s ongoing efforts to manage the file of
\ndetainees linked to terrorism cases.<\/p>\n
The
\nextraditions are part of a broader process following Iraq’s receipt<\/a> of between
\n5,000 and 7,000 ISIS detainees transferred from Syrian detention camps that the
\nKurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces closed after withdrawing, in an operation
\ncoordinated with the United States. Iraq’s Ministry of Justice said it has
\ncompleted investigations into 1,000 suspected ISIS members and signed
\nrepatriation agreements with several countries.<\/p>\n
