It noted that it had struck infrastructure belonging to the Islamic regime<\/a> in Tehran and Isfahan.<\/p>\n

Concurrently with the IDF’s announcement, Iran’s semi-official Tasnim News Agency reported that targets in the city of Qom, south of Tehran, had also been hit.<\/p>\n

An hour after the Israeli military’s confirmation of the commencement of its newest round of strikes, it stated that, during its strikes in Tehran, it had targeted “a senior Iranian terror regime commander in Tehran,” without naming the commander.<\/p>\n

The military’s announcements came hours after it had confirmed striking former Iranian supreme leader Ali Khamenei<\/a>\u2019s underground bunker in Tehran.<\/p>\n

The earlier strikes, which involved some 50 aircraft, targeted the bunker, which, according to the IDF, was located beneath the regime leadership’s Tehran compound.<\/p>\n

Although Khamenei himself was killed nearly a week prior, the IDF noted that the bunker was intended to be used as “a secure emergency command center” and “continued to be used by senior Iranian regime officials.”<\/p>\n

The IDF<\/a> went on to assert that it had been one of the Iranian regime’s most critical military command centers.<\/p>\n

While the initial military statement did not note if any senior Iranian officials were killed in the action, in a later press briefing, IDF spokesperson Brigadier General Effie Defrin said that the military was “examining the results of the attack.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"It noted that it had struck infrastructure belonging to the Islamic regime in Tehran and Isfahan.
