President Donald Trump continued his Truth Social posting spree Friday, sharing a series of statements on Iran, including that Tehran has agreed to never again close the Strait of Hormuz.<\/p>\n

The president tore into U.S. NATO allies, claiming they reached out to him to offer help after Iran’s foreign minister declared the Strait of Hormuz “open” following the ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon.<\/p>\n

“Now that the Hormuz Strait situation is over, I received a call from NATO asking if we would need some help. I TOLD THEM TO STAY AWAY, UNLESS THEY JUST WANT TO LOAD UP THEIR SHIPS WITH OIL. They were useless when needed, a Paper Tiger!” he said<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Despite Trump claiming the disruption of the strait is over, several questions about transit through the key waterway remain, including about the potential presence of sea mines.<\/p>\n

In a separate post<\/a>, Trump said “Iran, with the help of the U.S.A., has removed, or is removing, all sea mines!”<\/p>\n

But The New York Times has previously reported<\/a>\u00a0Tehran couldn’t find all the mines it had placed in the strait, citing U.S. officials.<\/p>\n

The president added<\/a> that “Iran has agreed to never close the Strait of Hormuz again.”<\/p>\n

“It will no longer be used as a weapon against the World!” he said.<\/p>\n

Iran has not publicly confirmed its commitment to do so. The strait has been one of Tehran’s most effective levers in the war.<\/p>\n
