Iraq has
\nreceived no official notice indicating a halt in US dollar shipments, an
\neconomic expert told Shafaq News on Wednesday, stressing that no supporting
\ninformation appears on the US Treasury\u2019s website.<\/p>\n
According
\nto Mahmoud Dagher, former Director General at the Central Bank of Iraq (CBI),
\nthe rumors are being amplified by parties seeking to take advantage of the
\ncurrent media environment as political negotiations over government formation
\ncontinue.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhile
\nthe speculation may weigh on public sentiment, it has not driven any unusual
\nswings in the exchange rate,\u201d he added, noting that current fluctuations remain
\nwithin a normal range typically associated with periods of regional tension.<\/p>\n
Dagher
\nfurther indicated that physical dollar shipments arriving by air from the
\nUnited States account for only about 7% of Iraq\u2019s daily dollar needs, while
\nmost demand is covered through banking channels and transfers used to finance
\nimports.<\/p>\n
Stressing
\nthat dollar liquidity remains sufficient to support trade and meet seasonal
\ndemand, including that of pilgrims, he described the overall financial
\nsituation as relatively stable despite ongoing geopolitical pressures.<\/p>\n
