(WFSB) &#8211; A woman was accused of animal cruelty after several dead pets were found in her home, including six puppies, according to a court document.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The suspect was identified as Christine Banta of Lebanon.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The document alleges Banta had a dead Pitbull mix, six black Labrador retriever puppies, and a dead cat in her home near the basement. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The animals were described as malnourished, and some showed signs of decomposition.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cIt was impossible to walk anywhere without stepping on feces,\u201d said one animal control officer in the document.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Officers who responded were said to have been familiar with the residence and owner from prior calls and a prior animal cruelty arrest.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The document said there were extremely unsanitary conditions in Banta\u2019s home, including widespread feces, garbage, debris, and dirty clothing.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Animal control officers recommended Banta be charged with eight counts of animal cruelty, according to the court papers.<\/p>\n<p>Copyright 2026 WFSB.
