U.S. Treasury yields were little changed on Friday, one day after President Donald Trump<\/a> announced that Israel and Lebanon extended their ceasefire agreement<\/a>.<\/p>\n The yield on the 10-year U.S. Treasury<\/a> note \u2014 the benchmark for mortgages, credit card debt and auto loans \u2014 was down more than 1 basis point at 4.31%.<\/p>\n The 2-year Treasury note<\/a> yield, which more closely tracks short-term Federal Reserve interest rate policy, slipped less than 1 basis point to 3.821%. The longer-dated 30-year Treasury bond<\/a> yield fell nearly two basis points to 4.902%.\u00a0<\/p>\n One basis point equals 0.01%, and yields and prices move in opposite directions.<\/p>\n Lebanese and Israeli ambassadors met in Washington for a second round of talks on Thursday. The two parties agreed to extend their ceasefire<\/a> by three weeks after a meeting in the White House<\/a> with top U.S. officials, Trump said.<\/p>\n “The Meeting went very well!” the president said in a Truth Social post<\/a> announcing the extension of the temporary truce.<\/p>\n Attention remains focused on developments over peace talks in the Middle East, with the Iranian foreign minister reportedly set to arrive Friday in Islamabad. Trump on Thursday told reporters, “don’t rush me,” when questioned on a long-term deal with Iran. He also said he won’t put a “timetable” on when the war will end.<\/p>\n Yields have moved higher over the past week as U.S. oil prices have risen 13% amid tensions in the Strait of Hormuz between the U.S. and Iran, which both seized ships this week<\/a>. Inflation risks linked to the war have led traders to expect the Federal Reserve to leave its key interest rate unchanged this year, per the CME FedWatch Tool<\/a>.<\/p>\n
