Iraq\u2019s Coordination
\nFramework (CF) ended its meeting without agreeing on a prime
\nministerial candidate or a mechanism for choosing one, a source told Shafaq
\nNews on Friday.<\/p>\n
The bloc scheduled
\na new meeting for Saturday at 4:00 p.m., with additional side meetings expected
\namong its leaders ahead of the session.<\/p>\n
Earlier this week, The CF failed to Under Iraq\u2019s
\nsources said caretaker Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani proposed his
\noffice director Ihsan Al-Awadi<\/a> for the post, while the State of Law Coalition,
\nled by Nouri Al-Maliki, put forward Basim Al-Badri<\/a>.<\/p>\n
\nagree on a prime ministerial candidate during meetings held last Saturday and
\nMonday, postponing a final decision to April 24.<\/p>\n
\npost-2003 power-sharing system, the presidency is held by a Kurd, the
\npremiership by a Shiite, and the speakership by a Sunni Arab. Parliament
\nelected Nizar Amedi as president on April 11, triggering the constitutional
\nprocess to nominate a prime minister. The CF has 15 days to present its
\ncandidate, after which the nominee has 30 days to form a government and secure
\nparliamentary confidence under Article 76 of the constitution.<\/p>\n
