This 1\u00bd-story structure remains as a reminder of 18th century life. The structure has served many purposes over its 250+ years of existence.\u00a0(Will Trostel)<\/p>\n<p>The property was constructed in 1742 by Johannes Leicht (John Light) with stone walls that are about 24 inches thick. The house includes a vaulted arched ceiling in the cellar, and a never-failing spring in one corner provided plenty of fresh water. The building was originally used as home and a Mennonite place of worship.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"#monroe-valley-chapel\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"aal_anchor\" id=\"monroe-valley-chapel\"><\/a>Monroe Valley Chapel<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"#449-monroe-valley-drive-jonestown\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"aal_anchor\" id=\"449-monroe-valley-drive-jonestown\"><\/a>449 Monroe Valley Drive, Jonestown<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-176500 perfmatters-lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/iran\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/image2-1024x768.jpeg\"  data-\/>The Monroe Valley Chapel, located in what is now Swatara Township, Lebanon County, was built between 1760 and 1800 as a place of worship and later served as a school until the mid-1800s. (Provided photo)<\/p>\n<p>A post-Revolutionary War-era church situated between two ridges of the Appalachian Mountains in northern Lebanon County, the chapel came under the care of the Trust in 1976. The fieldstone structure was reconstructed through the efforts of the students and staff of the Northern Lebanon High School and now is available for weddings and other religious activities.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"#lindley-murray-school\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"aal_anchor\" id=\"lindley-murray-school\"><\/a>Lindley Murray School<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"#ashner-miner-road-annville\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"aal_anchor\" id=\"ashner-miner-road-annville\"><\/a>Ashner Miner Road, Annville<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"538\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-148635 perfmatters-lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/iran\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/lindley-murray-school-1024x538.jpg\"  data-\/><\/p>\n<p>Students attended grades one through eight from 1854 to the early 1940s in this classic one-room schoolhouse.
