Iraq\u2019s Coordination Framework intensified negotiations over
\ngovernment formation with a meeting at the residence of State of Law Coalition
\nleader Nouri Al-Maliki, following a gathering on selecting a prime ministerial candidate,
\na political source told Shafaq News on Saturday.<\/p>\n
The meeting brought together Al-Maliki, the senior CF figure
\nAmer Al-Fayez, the leader of the Foundation (Al-Asas) bloc Mohsen Al-Mandalawi,
\nand Secretary-General of Kataib SayyidAl-Shuhada Abu Alaa
\nAl-Walaei.<\/p>\n
The source pointed out that \u201ca proposal will be presented at
\nApril 25 meeting to move forward with Basim Al-Badri as prime minister, in
\nexchange for granting the Reconstruction and Development Coalition (Al-Ima’ar
\nwal-Tanmiya), led by caretaker PM Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, five ministerial
\nportfolios, including a deputy PM post and a sovereign ministry.\u201d Preliminary
\nunderstandings, he added, include avoiding the reopening of files related to
\nprevious governments and improving Iraq\u2019s relations with regional countries, \u201cas
\npart of efforts to ease internal and external tensions as the new government
\ntakes shape.\u201d<\/p>\n
The source noted that participants did not support the newly
\nproposed candidates raised during Friday\u2019s meeting.<\/p>\n
