Oil prices rose Sunday after an Iranian official warned that the Strait of Hormuz will \u201cunder no circumstances\u201d<\/a> return to its previous state.<\/p>\n Brent crude, the international benchmark, was up about 2.14% to $107.58. US crude was up 2.08% to $96.36.<\/p>\n Iran\u2019s president Masoud Pezeshkian<\/a> told Pakistani Prime Min ister Shehbaz Sharif that ongoing US actions were undermining trust and complicating paths to dialogue, according to Iran\u2019s state broadcaster. The accusations come a week after Iran accused the United States of \u201cbreaches of trust\u201d and once again closed the Strait of Hormuz.<\/p>\n Pezeshkian also said Tehran would not enter \u201cforced negotiations\u201d with the US and that the American naval blockade at Iranian ports would need to end before reaching an agreement.<\/p>\n Meanwhile, President Donald Trump canceled the US envoy to Islamabad<\/a> at the last minute on Saturday after Iran refused to hold direct talks. Trump partially blamed the cancellation on \u201cinfighting\u201d among Tehran\u2019s leaders.<\/p>\n Peace talks have stalled ahead of the war\u2019s two-month mark, prolonging oil disruptions and stoking higher gas prices around the world.<\/p>\n \u201cWe realized if we place our foot on the throat of the Strait of Hormuz and Bab al-Mandab, 25% of the world\u2019s economy would be affected,\u201d said<\/a> Iran\u2019s Deputy Parliament Speaker Ali Nikzad, according to Iranian semi-official media on Sunday.<\/p>\n A gallon of gas cost an average of $4.10 on Sunday, according to AAA data<\/a>.
