Talks on Tehran\u2019s nuclear programme would be deferred to a later stage.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">According to Russian news agency Tass, Putin told Araghchi that the Iranian people are fighting \u201ccourageously and heroically\u201d for their sovereignty and that Moscow would do \u201ceverything in its power\u201d to achieve peace \u201cas quickly as possible\u201d.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">Putin also confirmed that he received a message from Iran\u2019s Supreme leader Mojtaba Khamenei last week. Last year, Iran and Russia strengthened their cooperation by elevating ties to a 20-year strategic partnership.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">As part of this broader relationship, Tehran has supplied Russia with Shahed drones for use in the war in Ukraine.
