{"id":88469,"date":"2026-04-29T00:47:16","date_gmt":"2026-04-29T00:47:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/iran\/88469\/"},"modified":"2026-04-29T00:47:16","modified_gmt":"2026-04-29T00:47:16","slug":"israels-president-invites-netanyahu-prosecutors-to-settle-corruption-case-against-prime-minister-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/iran\/88469\/","title":{"rendered":"Israel&#8217;s president invites Netanyahu, prosecutors to settle corruption case against prime minister"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>JERUSALEM\u00a0\u2014\u00a0Israel\u2019s president on Tuesday invited Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and government prosecutors to his official residence in hopes of brokering a settlement to end an ongoing corruption case against the Israeli leader. <\/p>\n<p>President Isaac Herzog\u2019s office issued the invitation days after announcing that he would not decide on Netanyahu\u2019s request for a pardon and instead urge the sides to reach a settlement.<\/p>\n<p>The invitation, signed by Herzog\u2019s legal adviser, said the president believes that efforts to reach a settlement \u201cmust be exhausted first\u201d before he can consider the pardon request. It said it aimed for discussions to take place \u201cwith an open heart and sincere, good intention\u201d and asked for a response by Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>Netanyahu last November asked Herzog to cancel his trial, saying that dropping the charges would help unify the country. President Trump has made multiple appeals to Herzog to end the trial.<\/p>\n<p>Netanyahu is charged with breach of trust, fraud and accepting bribes in three separate cases accusing him of exchanging favors with wealthy associates. He denies all charges.<\/p>\n<p>The trial has dragged on for six years in a case that has bitterly divided the Israeli public.
