          A+\n                                    <\/p>\n<p>Shafaq News- Tehran<\/p>\n<p>Iran\u2019s Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, announced on<br \/>\nThursday a \u201cnew management\u201d plan for the Strait of Hormuz, pledging to bring<br \/>\n\u201ccalm and economic benefits\u201d to the region while reaffirming Tehran\u2019s<br \/>\ncommitment to securing the Gulf.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement, Khamenei described the deployment of US<br \/>\nforces in Gulf states as a key driver of tensions.<\/p>\n<p>He said Iran shares a common destiny with its neighbors and<br \/>\nwill work to secure the Gulf and end \u201cviolations in the waterway,\u201d adding that<br \/>\nthe new management of the Strait of Hormuz would bring calm, progress, and<br \/>\neconomic benefits to Gulf states while pointing to a future without a US<br \/>\npresence.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Iran\u2019s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) noted<br \/>\nin a statement marking National Persian Gulf Day that Gulf security can only be<br \/>\nachieved through regional cooperation among littoral states without foreign<br \/>\nforces, describing the Gulf as a vital artery for the region\u2019s economy, energy,<br \/>\nand communications, and calling for stability and sustainable security through<br \/>\ncollective regional participation.<\/p>\n<p>On April 28, the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) <a href=\"https:\/\/shafaq.com\/en\/Middle-East\/GCC-rejects-Iran-s-strait-closure-demands-navigation-restored\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">called<\/a> for<br \/>\nthe immediate restoration of maritime security and freedom of navigation in the<br \/>\nStrait of Hormuz to pre-February 28 conditions, and rejected any measures that<br \/>\ncould <a href=\"https:\/\/www.shafaq.com\/en\/Middle-East\/Iranian-Navy-closes-Strait-of-Hormuz-from-the-Arabian-Sea\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">disrupt<\/a> shipping, including the imposition of transit fees on passing<br \/>\nvessels.<\/p>\n<p>Iran began collecting transit fees from ships passing<br \/>\nthrough the Strait of Hormuz last week, according to lawmaker Ali Reza
