I held a sign saying, “I am an autistic non-Jewish friend of Israel. Ask me why.” I held it up along the main road to talk to people about autism and intertwine it with the Jewish connection to make the Jewish people see that they have extraordinary people looking out for them. This is the boldest and most daring thing I have ever done by myself in social activism.

It’s a really dark time for the Jewish people in Britain. I have not been this anxious since the days after October 7th, when Israel came under attack from the brutal guns of Hamas. After the last hostage was returned from captivity, I was hoping for a reprieve from combating antisemitism in my country. But instead, there was another fight going on, and this time it was centred around the uprising in Iran. This time, it would be a fight for the freedom of the Iranian people, and having seen the way that the Palestinian war machine is actively funded and weaponised by the IRGC, this would be a chance to campaign for a different kind of freedom. Something to be done for the mutual harmony of Jewish and Iranian liberation to peace and prosperity in the Middle East.

Fighting for the Iranians came with another wave of hatred directed towards Jews and Iranians. This time, instead of just the Palestine hate mobs using superficial grievances that dehumanise Jews and vilify Israel, I was facing off against the agents of the IRGC, who had terrorists ready to strike in public spaces. It was inevitable that we could be witnessing an open war on the streets of Britain that would incur a national emergency. Jews are now hunted on the streets of Britain by Islamist thugs, and leftist journalists were commenting that a protest against a Jewish business was a proactive way to protest Israel’s retaliation against terrorism. It goes without saying that these middle-class leftists hope that Jews are targeted and hurt mentally and physically.

I once had a nasty encounter with some IRGC thugs when I came under attack in June 2025 with Stop the Hate in London. After a hate march had passed from our counter demonstration spot on Waterloo Bridge, we were attacked with glass bottles that were thrown at us from the barrier. About 4-5 Iranian Islamic Regime supporters threw these bottles at us, and one of my friends’ dads got cuts to his arm from the broken glass. Just goes to show this is a violent hate march out for a killing spree on the hunt for Jews and their allies, and it’s a masked parade of genocidal killers. How long will it be before more innocent people are being unalived in Britain by those being led on by defective anti-racism organisations who dismiss Jewish suffering?

From the way that antisemites have shown themselves up here in Britain, it has stunted the country socially and intellectually. I am burned out from these wars on the streets and online after all these months of being an antisemitism warrior. Burnout is a strain with which my autism overprocesses my feelings, and can become tiresome to the point of making me shut down. Being a friend of the Jewish people in London has come with so much baggage that I load it with too much passion. It may be overwhelming, but it is worth it when I have this fire of enamoured exultation.

On the day of the stabbing attack in Golders Green, I went to join a vigil there. I comforted my Jewish friends, and one of them was so distraught and exhausted with this psycho drama and intifada-inspired attacks. We marched down to the road where the stabbing had occurred, which was just next to where the Hatzolah ambulances had been burned about four weeks prior. I wrapped my arms around plenty of my Jewish friends and did my best to show them that the determination I had for their survival was unbound. I sometimes wonder if I have done enough to support my Jewish friends. Could I be doing something better than what I am fulfilling of my expectations to support Jews and speak up for Israel? I believe I have done some good, and in the process, I have become the leader of my own enterprise with a social mission, NeuroZion. That is one reward I can claim from serving a righteous cause in fulfilling the chosen people.

When the October 7 Hamas attack on Israel happened, I went into a spiritual meltdown. I am not Jewish, and I have no connection to Israel. What I felt in my mind and soul was a mental torture that I could feel from afar as the Jewish people were being attacked. When I first heard that Jewish people have a view of autistic people as God-like beings, I could feel a spiritual connection to the Jewish people. I gave a speech outside Finchley United Synagogue at a vigil on the day of the Bibas family’s funeral in Israel. I told the Jews of London that if they see me as a being closer to God, then I am blessed with creative and inspiring energy, with which I am devoted to standing up for the Jews and showing how I am enamoured by them.

As the overwhelming drama of an unimaginable horror of death, mutilation, rape and torture spread across Israel, I retreated into shutdown mode in my bedroom. I needed to feel an invisible hand guide me to a better condition. Then I could hear a voice coming from myself, which I could relate to a message from somewhere on high. It wasn’t just a feeling to comfort and uplift me; it was a mission with some noble objectives to be fulfilled. I took the task because I wanted to show the world what the Jewish people have done to empower autistic people and share that message worldwide. If I could put into words what Hashem said to me, then they would be:

“Charlie, the Jewish people are being attacked, and Israel is being vilified by their enemies right now. I want you to step up and use your intelligence and creativity to defend and celebrate the best things they see in you and the other neurodivergent tribes. This objective will make you a curious and inspiring being when they see you fulfil your duty. Do this for yourself and for me, then the Jews will reward you with so much in gratitude and opportunities, and you will inspire pride among the nations of their Jews that need to be recognised in abundance. You will have many new friendships and become part of their families. Be brave, strong and resilient.”

Charlie Keeble is a journalist and author of three books focusing on his autism and the advocacy work he celebrates for his self-determination.
