The Iranian regime is knowingly endangering innocent lives.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"responsive__Paragraph-sc-1pktst5-0 gaEeqC\">Centcom added: \u201cThe US military takes every feasible precaution to minimise harm to civilians but cannot guarantee civilian safety in or near facilities used by the Iranian regime for military purposes. Unlike the Iranian regime, US forces do not target or intentionally risk the safety of civilians.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"responsive__Paragraph-sc-1pktst5-0 gaEeqC\">On Saturday President Trump blamed Iran for the alleged bombing of a school in Minab in southern Iran that killed 175 people, most of them schoolgirls.<\/p>\n<p>Macron urges Iranian president to cease strikes<\/p>\n<p class=\"responsive__Paragraph-sc-1pktst5-0 gaEeqC\">President Macron of France spoke to his US and Iranian counterparts on Sunday before a trip to Cyprus aimed at reinforcing security during the US-Israeli war with Iran.<\/p>\n<p class=\"responsive__Paragraph-sc-1pktst5-0 gaEeqC\">Macron, the first Western leader to speak to President Pezeshkian since the outbreak of the conflict, said on X that he \u201cstressed the need for Iran to immediately cease its strikes against countries in the region\u201d.<\/p>\n<p class=\"responsive__Paragraph-sc-1pktst5-0 gaEeqC\">He also urged Iran to guarantee freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz. He gave no details of his conversation with President Trump.<\/p>\n<p class=\"responsive__Paragraph-sc-1pktst5-0 gaEeqC\">A seventh member of the US armed forces has died during the operation against Iran.<\/p>\n<p class=\"responsive__Paragraph-sc-1pktst5-0 gaEeqC\">The US Central Command said the soldier was wounded at the scene of an attack on a US base in Saudi Arabia on March 1 and succumbed to their injuries overnight.<\/p>\n<p class=\"responsive__Paragraph-sc-1pktst5-0 gaEeqC\">The identity of the US soldier will be withheld until 24 hours after the next of kin have been notified.<\/p>\n<p>Iran \u2018will strike back without delay\u2019<\/p>\n<p class=\"responsive__Paragraph-sc-1pktst5-0 gaEeqC\">The speaker of the Iranian parliament, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, has told state media after the attack on an oil depot: \u201cIf they attack Iran\u2019s infrastructure, we will hit their infrastructure in return without delay.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"responsive__Paragraph-sc-1pktst5-0 gaEeqC\">He also said Tehran was not seeking a ceasefire.<\/p>\n<p>Dissenting voices in Israel<\/p>\n<p class=\"responsive__Paragraph-sc-1pktst5-0 gaEeqC\">Support for the war against Iran is high in Israel, but there are dissenting voices (Marc Bennetts writes).<\/p>\n<p class=\"responsive__Paragraph-sc-1pktst5-0 gaEeqC\">This weekend about 50 people attended an anti-war protest on Tel Aviv\u2019s Habima Square. It was broken up by police, who made one arrest. As usual, it is the peoples of the region \u2014 Iranians, Israelis, Palestinians and others \u2014 who pay the price for the cynical decisions of our politicians.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Five IRGC commanders \u2018killed at Beirut hotel\u2019<\/p>\n<p class=\"responsive__Paragraph-sc-1pktst5-0 gaEeqC\">The Israeli military said it had killed five commanders in the elite Quds Force of Iran\u2019s Revolutionary Guards in a strike on a hotel in Beirut.<\/p>\n<p class=\"responsive__Paragraph-sc-1pktst5-0 gaEeqC\">\u201cOvernight the Israeli navy, directed by precise IDF intelligence, conducted a precise strike in Beirut, Lebanon, targeting five commanders from the IRGC\u2019s Lebanon Corps and Palestine Corps while they were meeting at a hotel in Beirut,\u201d the military said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"responsive__Paragraph-sc-1pktst5-0 gaEeqC\">In a separate statement Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir, chief of the general staff, said: \u201cThere is no safe place for the Iranian axis of evil anywhere in the Middle East: not in Beirut and not anywhere else.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u2018It will shape our future for years\u2019<\/p>\n<p class=\"responsive__Paragraph-sc-1pktst5-0 gaEeqC\">Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir, the Israel Defence Forces chief, warned that the war could last \u201cmuch longer\u201d.<\/p>\n<p class=\"responsive__Paragraph-sc-1pktst5-0 gaEeqC\">He told commanders during a situational assessment: \u201cIsrael has already been in a state of prolonged emergency for two years.
