{"id":99597,"date":"2026-05-05T22:58:23","date_gmt":"2026-05-05T22:58:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/iran\/99597\/"},"modified":"2026-05-05T22:58:23","modified_gmt":"2026-05-05T22:58:23","slug":"miss-israel-posts-video-selfie-with-zohran-mamdanis-wife-refused-to-engage","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/iran\/99597\/","title":{"rendered":"Miss Israel Posts Video Selfie With Zohran Mamdani&#8217;s Wife: &#8216;Refused to Engage&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"Paragraph_blockParagraph__I2kr4\">Melanie Shiraz, who was crowned Miss Israel in 2025, posted video footage on Tuesday of New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani&#8217;s wife in a Brooklyn cafe \u2014 alleging Rama Duwaji &#8220;refused to engage&#8221; during a confrontation about her views on Palestinians.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_blockParagraph__I2kr4\">&#8220;So, guess who sat next to me at a cafe in New York?&#8221; Shiraz, 27, said in an Instagram video calling out the 28-year-old first lady of New York City. &#8220;None other than Zohran Mamdani&#8217;s wife, Rama Duwaji \u2014 the same Rama Duwaji who posted horribly antisemitic, anti-Israel and terror sympathizing things not that long ago and also apologized for it.&#8221; <\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_blockParagraph__I2kr4\">Shiraz said Duwaji, who has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsweek.com\/zohran-mamdanis-wife-reveals-shame-over-old-social-media-posts-11837539\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">expressed &#8220;shame&#8221; over recently resurfaced social media posts<\/a> that celebrated Palestinian militants, had been willing to take a photo with her until she learned of her nationality.<\/p>\n<p><img id=\"11916075\" alt=\"\" caption=\"\" credit=\"\" sourcealt=\"\" sources=\"[]\" fetchpriority=\"auto\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"832\" height=\"1382\" decoding=\"async\" data-nimg=\"1\" style=\"color:transparent;aspect-ratio:inherit;object-fit:cover\"   src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/iran\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/Screenshot-2026-05-05-at-3.09.49-PM.png\"\/><\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_blockParagraph__I2kr4\">&#8220;Until I told her that, as an Israeli, I was disappointed in seeing the kind of rhetoric she was promoting online,&#8221; Shiraz said. &#8220;But I told her part of my ideology as an Israeli is to have productive dialogue in which one side is not constantly dehumanized.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_blockParagraph__I2kr4\">Shiraz wrote in a lengthy caption that Duwaji, a Houston native whose parents were born in Syria, had been &#8220;polite&#8221; during the brief encounter on Sunday at a coffee shop in Brooklyn.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_blockParagraph__I2kr4\">&#8220;But the shift in demeanor was evident, and the lack of willingness to engage even more so,&#8221; Shiraz wrote on Tuesday. &#8220;I approached the interaction with openness to a genuine, respectful conversation. That openness was not reciprocated. One post insisted Tel Aviv &#8220;shouldn&#8217;t exist,&#8221; while another praised Palestinian militant Shadia Abu Ghazaleh \u2014 a member of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, a U.S.-designated terrorist organization.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_blockParagraph__I2kr4\">An X profile reportedly belonging to Duwaji has since been deleted.
