{"id":99726,"date":"2026-05-06T00:53:24","date_gmt":"2026-05-06T00:53:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/iran\/99726\/"},"modified":"2026-05-06T00:53:24","modified_gmt":"2026-05-06T00:53:24","slug":"asia-pacific-markets-today-kospi-hang-seng-nifty-50","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/iran\/99726\/","title":{"rendered":"Asia-Pacific markets today: Kospi, Hang Seng, Nifty 50"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A man looks at a screen showing global stock market information on the street in Tokyo, Japan.<\/p>\n<p>Chris McGrath | Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>South Korea&#8217;s Kospi hit another record Wednesday as Asia-Pacific markets opened higher, tracking Wall Street gains overnight after oil prices dropped and strong earnings lifted investor sentiment.<\/p>\n<p>Signaling diplomatic efforts for resolving the Middle East crisis were on track, President\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/donald-trump\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Donald Trump<\/a> said the U.S. bid to guide ships out of Strait of Hormuz <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2026\/05\/05\/trump-iran-deal-project-freedom-hormuz-strait.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">had been paused<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We have mutually agreed that, while the Blockade will remain in full force and effect, Project Freedom will be paused for a short period of time to see whether or not the Agreement can be finalized and signed,&#8221; Trump said in his <a href=\"https:\/\/truthsocial.com\/@realDonaldTrump\/posts\/116524418935002706\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Truth Social<\/a> post. <\/p>\n<p>The U.S. military on Monday began guiding commercial ships out of the Strait of Hormuz under Project Freedom. U.S. Defense Secretary\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/pete-hegseth\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Pete Hegseth<\/a> on Tuesday said that &#8220;two U.S. commercial ships, along with American destroyers, have already safely transited the strait, showing the lane is clear.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/@CL.1\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">West Texas Intermediate<\/a> futures for June was 1.96% lower at $100.27 per barrel as of 8:03 p.m. ET. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/@LCO.1\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Brent crude<\/a>\u00a0futures for July declined 1.27% to $108.48 per barrel.  <\/p>\n<p>South Korea&#8217;s Kospi advanced 4.50% to scale a new peak, building on its more than 70% gains this year so far, as markets resumed trading following a holiday. The small-cap Kosdaq slipped 0.15%. Index heavyweights Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix both hit record highs, rising more than 8% and 9%,  respectively, in early trade. <\/p>\n<p>Australia&#8217;s S&amp;P\/ASX 200 was 0.58% higher.<\/p>\n<p>Hong Kong <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/.HSI\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Hang Seng index<\/a> futures were at 25,860, compared with the index&#8217;s last close of 25,898.61.<\/p>\n<p>Japan stock market trading is closed due to a holiday.<\/p>\n<p>Stock Chart IconStock chart icon<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/static-redesign.cnbcfm.com\/dist\/a54b41835a8b60db28c2.svg\" class=\"Collapsible-dismissButton\" alt=\"hide content\"\/><\/p>\n<p>S&amp;P 500 futures added 0.2%, while\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/@ND.1\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Nasdaq 100 futures<\/a>\u00a0climbed 0.6%.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/@DJ.1\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Futures tied to the Dow Jones Industrial Average<\/a>\u00a0fell by 30 points, or less than 0.1%.<\/p>\n<p>During Tuesday&#8217;s regular session, the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/.SPX\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">S&amp;P 500<\/a>\u00a0rose 0.81%, hitting a new all-time high and closing at a record of 7,259.22. The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/.IXIC\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Nasdaq Composite<\/a>\u00a0gained 1.03%, touching a new high and notching a closing record of 25,326.13.
