Signs of growth also from the young female universe of Volleyball BolognaThe club boasts its top-tier men’s Serie B team, which includes players from the national youth teams. However, within its own ranks, it brings together clubs that operate in both men’s and women’s sports, such as Yz, Savena, Budrio, Valsamoggia, Solovolley Imola, Crevavolley, Zola Monte San Pietro, and Pallavolo Bologna San Lazzaro.
Well, the latter was the absolute protagonist of the Pink Gen Under 16 Trophy, event organized by Lega Volley Femminile with 9 teams from Serie A clubs and not in Agropoli. The team that triumphed was the Bologna San Lazzaro Volleyball. What’s more: the company has swept up titles with the setter Chiara Gambini Unanimously named MVP of the tournament. Placed in Group B, Bologna opened the tournament with a tight match against Bartoccini Mc Restauri School Volley Perugia, before defeating Akademia Sant’Anna Messina, a club in the same Serie A league as Perugia. The girls then defeated the hosts Cilento in two sets before facing Altino of Abruzzo in the final. And here comes the masterpiece. Bologna falls behind, struggles, and loses the first set. But they don’t give up, they come back, tie it 1-1, and in the final tie-break, they take the top step of the podium and win the cup. It’s a remarkable result.
La Volleyball Bologna has done a great job in the men’s youth field for several seasons now, launching several players (some, like Dalfiume and Bigozzi, loaned to Anderlini in Serie B and Serie A3 respectively) into the Under national team scene, along with Imperato, who will be libero for the first team in the upcoming season. Now there are signs of the same kind also at the women’s level, with Pb San Lazzaro able to overcome in a tournament organized by Serie A League Several clubs from the top two national categories in the Under 16 category. This result demonstrates a seeding process underway, despite the current lack of a top-level first team competing in the national categories. But the Rossoblù are reflecting on this for the future, to provide a competitive outlet for the girls who will emerge over the next few years. In addition to Volley Team Bologna, there is an alternative group growing in the city in the women’s field: Volleyball BolognaParadoxical but true: in a Bologna area that is unable to produce a Serie A volleyball team, there are 5 clubs that will participate in Serie B: Hokkaido (men’s Serie B), Vtb (1 B1 and 1 B2), Fatro Ozzano and San Giovanni. And it is not excluded that the Volleyball Bologna don’t try to sign up for the race in the future, even in the women’s field.
