Il nuovo album, o meglio mixtape, di Aesop Rock<\/a>\u00a0segna un cambiamento deciso rispetto alle ultime pubblicazioni del forbito rapper statunitense: produzioni tutte firmate dal titolare e assai pi\u00f9 minimali, testi pi\u00f9 brevi e un mood\u00a0intimo, pi\u00f9 inquieto e malinconico, che lascia un po’ da parte gli aspetti pi\u00f9 ironici e colorati del suo multiforme linguaggio.
La frase che funge da titolo, \u201cI Heard It\u2019s A Mess There Too\u201d, \u00e8 l\u2019ideale sintesi di questo nuovo sentire, inserito in un immaginario dialogo: trasmette un\u2019empatia e una partecipazione alle difficolt\u00e0 degli altri, che ci corrisponde e ci accomuna. Elementi di inquietudine attraversano i beat, a suggerire una tensione che a tratti diventa degna di un thriller.<\/p>\n

Il mondo \u00e8 un disastro, ovunque: serve un po’ d’aria fresca.<\/strong><\/p>\n

I dodici brani in scaletta sono la solita giostra di immagini pi\u00f9 o meno suggestive ma la ginnastica sintattica e lessicale non diventa ora centrale, come pure accaduto in passato.<\/p>\n

Blood in my hair, shit on my shoes, spit on my shirt
Ash in the air, ick on the nose, system alert
It might just be the dish we deserve<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Le immagini con cui si apre l\u2019album, attraverso “Crystals And Herbs”, ci immergono in un racconto che unisce fantascienza, surreale e noir. Come al solito, ogni spunto narrativo diventa un racconto e un viaggio mentale: ti distrai un secondo e si parla del Big Foot in “The Cut”, poi in\u00a0 “Full House Pinball” una serie di immagini inquietanti portano al ritornello da cui \u00e8 tratto il titolo:<\/p>\n

It’s a mess out here
I heard it’s a mess there too
Remember, when the smoke starts blowing, and your eyes start stinging
And your throat starts closing, what a little fresh air can do<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Per quanto prevalga la tensione, un po\u2019 di leggerezza arriva nei groove\u00a0pi\u00f9 colorati di “Bag Lunch”, “Potato Leek Soup” e “Spin to Win”, con innesti di funk<\/a>: impossibile non molleggiare la testa sul beat.
Ma altrove dominano synth da brividi (“Opossum”, “Oh My Stars”) o un glockenspiel\u00a0spettrale come in “Pay The Man” e altre immagini al solito fantasiose e versi densi come \u201cI\u2019m dressed for the Dickens\/ but it\u2019s all Franz Kafka\u201d e \u201cThe Norman Rockwell that went Orwellian in seconds\u201d. La chitarra che riecheggia in “Call Home” \u00e8 pura tensione.
Quasi per caso si arriva persino a un brano che potrebbe ricordare un\u2019atipica hit come “Poly Cotton Blend”, con il suo ritornello ironico:<\/p>\n

Oh yea, go mega
In the trench where it get so extra
I\u2019m on it, go AWOL
Get yourself out from behind the eight ball
OK, go stupid, take a piece, take another
No bullshit, get busy, go dum dum
Always hit the ground running with the bumrush<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Un bis di alto livello, un’altra conferma di essere un’eccezione<\/strong><\/p>\n

A pochi mesi dal decimo album, \u201cI Heard It\u2019s A Mess There Too\u201d mostra la creativit\u00e0 di Aesop Rock da una nuova angolazione, che unisce la sempre incredibile abilit\u00e0 con i versi con una pi\u00f9 malinconica, rassegnata, pessimistica visione del mondo. \u00c8 un bis di alto livello in un momento della carriera dove la maggior parte dei colleghi sono bolliti. Lui invece non stravolge il suo sound ma continua ad adattarlo a esigenze di volta in volta differenti.\u00a0
Chiude “Sherbert”, con versi enigmatici e amari:<\/p>\n

You could be the hero of the whole thing
You could be the watcher in the wait
You could be the likes of which we ain\u2019t seen
