Cristalfarma, an Italian company known for its innovative spirit and cutting-edge solutions, has been a pioneer in the use of active ingredients from vertical farming in its advanced supplements since 2022. Now, it announces the launch of a new research project dedicated to the development and controlled cultivation of medicinal mushrooms and algae for human health.

Cristalfarma already boasts solid experience in this approach, having developed—the first in the industry—14 vertical farming protocols in collaboration with Cultipharm between 2022 and today. These protocols have allowed the company to acquire unique technical and scientific expertise in the Italian landscape. This new program represents the natural evolution of a process of continuous innovation, aiming to expand the portfolio of cultivated species and further optimize the quality, reproducibility, and traceability of production processes while pursuing environmental sustainability.

Ever since vertically farmed botanicals were first used in Cristalfarma’s supplements, the term “advanced supplements” has characterized and distinguished the Milanese company’s products. Medicinal mushrooms and algae for health purposes are at the center of wellness research. The two projects focus on fungal and algae species recognized by international scientific literature and of significant health interest for their beneficial properties on the human body. Cultivation in controlled environments allows for the maintenance of high and reproducible quality standards, minimizing environmental variables and ensuring consistent standardization in the concentration and profile of active ingredients.
