The Finance Police of the Rome Provincial Command of the Guardia di Finanza have completed a major anti-counterfeiting operation, focusing on a particularly sensitive sector: products intended for minors. The operation, conducted by the “Baschi Verdi” of the Rome Emergency Response Team, resulted in the seizure of over 1.000 potentially dangerous items.
During their daily economic surveillance operations, the Guardia di Finanza (Italian Finance Police) identified a business in the Anagnina area selling cell phone cases and stationery bearing the logos of famous fictional characters. Subsequent investigations confirmed the counterfeit nature of the merchandise, which included iconic brands beloved by young people such as Labubu, Kuromi, Pokemon, Spider-Man, and One Piece. The business’s legal representative was reported to the Judicial Authorities for introducing and selling products with counterfeit logos, as well as receiving stolen goods. The intervention of the Guardia di Finanza (Italian Finance Police) underscores how counterfeiting not only causes economic damage to legitimate businesses, but also poses a threat to public health, a phenomenon further exacerbated when the end consumers are children. The counterfeiting of toys and school supplies is particularly insidious: unauthorized products often fail to comply with European safety standards, using potentially toxic materials or fragile structural components that can endanger the safety of minors. The fight against illegal trade therefore remains a fundamental pillar for protecting the health of consumers, guaranteeing certified products, safeguarding the industrial rights of creators
