The firm has nabbed a pair of insurance disputes practitioners with litigation and arbitration experience to bolster its capabilities in the Big Apple and Los Angeles.
Reed Smith has hired Natasha Romagnoli and David Thomas as partners in the litigation department of its insurance recovery group. Their arrival was announced yesterday (16 July).
Romagnoli, who will be based in the New York office, joins following a near seven-year stretch at Blank Rome, while Los Angeles-based Thomas arrives after serving nearly nine years at the firm. Both were partners.
The pair join after Crowell & Moring swiped an insurance disputes partner from Reed Smith for its Washington, DC, office earlier this month.
The duo bring extensive experience litigating complex insurance coverage spats in state and federal courts across the US, with Romagnoli’s practice covering bad faith and other extracontractual claims for corporate and institutional policyholders against insurers in litigations and arbitration proceedings. With over two decades’ litigation experience, Romagnoli also acts for clients on coverage-related matters involving professional malpractice claims, securities investigations and class actions, among others.
Her clients include non-profits, real estate investment and management companies, law firms, private equity funds and individuals.
With 25 years’ experience in the insurance space, Thomas is noted for obtaining significant recoveries for corporate and institutional policyholders under a wide spectrum of coverages including financial guarantee and collateral protection, directors’ and officers’ liability, cybersecurity and privacy, commercial general liability, environmental liability, and commercial property and business interruption, as well as insurance recovery for wildfires, mudslides and other natural disasters.
