Make-A-Wish New Mexico is marking its 40th anniversary by unveiling a new Wish Wall and granting a life-changing wish to a 16-year-old girl who survived cancer: a trip to Rome to visit the Vatican and meet Pope Leo.Isabella Solis, 16, said her wish came into focus after a major milestone in her health journey. “Recently, in January, I got the OK, so I’m cancer-free now,” Solis said. “And my Make-A-Wish is to go to Rome, and to meet the Pope and just explore Rome, like have that ability to actually see another country.” With support from her family, local community members, Otero Brothers Roofing, and leaders at Albuquerque Fire Rescue, that wish is becoming a reality. This milestone wish highlights Make-A-Wish New Mexico’s four decades of granting life-changing experiences for children facing critical illnesses across the state.
