IRON MOUNTAIN, Mich. (WLUC) – Good food and fun will be coming to Iron Mountain this Saturday.
Iron Mountain’s Italian Fest will offer guests everything from Italian Cuisine, live music, and even grape stomping. Children will be able to play in bounce houses and obstacle courses. Guests with Italian ancestry will be able to put a pin on a map of Italy to show where their ancestors came from.
The Iron Mountain Downtown Development Authority Event Coordinator Katherine DeMars says the popularity of the event comes from the history and ancestry of the town.
“I think it just goes back to how Iron Mountain was settled, you know with all the mining back in the day, a lot of people from Italy came over and settled here,” DeMars said. “So, I think it’s that local heritage that we have which is very unique to this area.”
The festival will be held at the parking lot on East A and Iron Mountain St. from Noon until 7 p.m. Admission will cost $10 and children under 12 can get in free.
