The Jeep® Avenger (JJ) continues to prove that subcompact SUVs can make a big impact. Through the first seven months of 2026, the Italian-designed Jeep has established itself as the best-selling SUV in Italy while also becoming the country’s second best-selling vehicle overall.
According to sales data compiled by Dataforce, the Avenger finished January though July with more than a 5% share of Italy’s overall SUV market. More impressively, that figure includes SUVs of every size, price point, and powertrain type.
Within the highly competitive B-SUV, or subcompact crossover, segment, the Avenger has been even stronger. It captured a 10.3% share through July, placing it firmly at the top of its class.

More Than Just A Successful Jeep®
The Avenger’s performance becomes even more impressive when you look beyond the SUV category.
Across the entire Italian new-vehicle market (regardless of segment or powertrain), the Avenger ranked second overall during the January-through-July period. Its 2.6% share of the total market puts the compact Jeep alongside some of Italy’s highest-volume passenger vehicles.
That is a major accomplishment for Jeep, especially considering the Avenger was developed specifically with European buyers and European roads in mind.
July alone remained strong. The Avenger captured approximately 3.74% of Italy’s SUV market during the month, while its year-to-date SUV share stood at 5.02%.
Jeep says the results continue the momentum the Avenger established during both 2024 and 2025.

Plenty Of Powertrain Choices
A major part of the Avenger’s appeal is that Jeep hasn’t forced customers into a single type of powertrain.
Instead, European buyers can choose from several configurations depending on their needs and budget.
There is a traditional gasoline-powered version with a manual transmission, a 48-volt e-Hybrid model with an automatic transmission, a fully electric Avenger, and the more adventurous Avenger 4xe with electrified all-wheel drive.
That variety gives Jeep the ability to attract buyers who want everything from a simple gasoline commuter to an electrified compact SUV with additional traction and capability.
It also fits Jeep’s current “Freedom of Choice” strategy, allowing customers to select the type of propulsion that makes the most sense for them rather than pushing the entire lineup toward one solution.

Designed In Turin For Europe
Although the Avenger carries familiar Jeep styling cues, it was developed around the needs of the European market. Designed in Turin, Italy, the Avenger combines a compact footprint with the upright styling, functionality, and capability buyers expect from the Jeep brand.
That formula appears to be working.
European cities often feature tighter roads, smaller parking spaces, and different vehicle-size expectations compared with much of the U.S. The Avenger packages Jeep design into a considerably smaller footprint while still offering multiple powertrain choices and available all-wheel-drive capability.
Its success is also helping Jeep remain among Italy’s ten largest passenger-car brands. Through the latest reporting period, Jeep held approximately 3.67% of the Italian passenger-vehicle market.

Compass Adds To Jeep’s Momentum
The Avenger isn’t Jeep’s only model gaining traction in Italy.
The latest Jeep Compass has also moved into the top ten of Italy’s C-SUV segment as the completely redesigned model begins reaching customers. Like the Avenger, the Compass was designed in Turin. It rides on Stellantis’ STLA Medium architecture and offers hybrid and fully electric powertrains.
The 145 horsepower Compass e-Hybrid currently starts at €33,900 (or about $39,000 at recent exchange rates), although currency conversions naturally fluctuate.
At the other end of the lineup is a 375-horsepower all-wheel-drive (AWD) electric model. Its 96.1-kWh usable battery provides a claimed WLTP driving range of more than 600 kilometers (373 miles).
Depending on configuration, Jeep has also quoted electric Compass range figures reaching approximately 650 kilometers (404 miles).
The new Compass offers more than 200 millimeters (7.9 inches) of ground clearance and can handle water crossings up to 480 millimeters (18.9 inches) deep, reinforcing Jeep’s effort to retain real capability even as the lineup becomes increasingly electrified.

Avenger Has Become A Major Player
The bigger story, however, remains the Avenger. Jeep entered one of Europe’s most crowded vehicle segments with a product designed specifically for that market, and Italian consumers have responded.
Holding more than 10% of the B-SUV segment would already make the Avenger an important model for Jeep. Becoming Italy’s best-selling SUV of any size while ranking second among every vehicle sold in the country takes that success to another level.
Through seven months of 2026, the numbers suggest the smallest Jeep has become one of the brand’s biggest success stories in Italy.
