Rome is moving toward another decision on support for Kyiv, while officials signal that several forms of assistance remain on the table.
Italy’s Ministry of Defense has begun preparing a new aid package for Ukraine. This was announced by Italian Defense Minister Guido Crosetto.
Once the Ministry of Defense, together with other agencies, finalizes the package, its contents will be presented to members of COPASIR, the parliamentary committee overseeing intelligence activities. The committee chair will brief the lawmakers.
Italy plans to finalize new aid for Ukraine quickly
Italy’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani noted that decisions on the next aid package could be finalized in the near future. The document is to be signed by Antonio Tajani, Guido Crosetto, and Economy Minister Giancarlo Giorgetti.
Minister Crosetto, Minister Giorgetti, and I will sign this package; we will see what the timeline will be, but it will happen fairly quickly.
– Antonio Tajani
Antonio Tajani emphasized that Italy’s support for Ukraine is not limited to military supplies. Rome also provides Kyiv with political, financial, and energy assistance.
Energy and humanitarian support ahead of winter
Support for Ukraine’s energy system ahead of the winter period remains a separate priority. The Italian side is paying particular attention to this issue given Ukraine’s need for a stable energy supply.
Giorgia Meloni had previously also promised that Italy would continue providing Ukraine with humanitarian aid throughout the next winter season. The new package is intended to become part of Rome’s continued support for Ukraine.
