\n\tFandango Sales has acquired international sales rights to high-profile doc \u201cVittorio De Sica<\/a> \u2013 Staging Life,\u201d that will soon launch from the Cannes Film Festival<\/a>\u2018s Cannes Classics section.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tDirected by Francesco Zippel \u2013 who was previously in the same Cannes section with the 2021 doc \u201cOscar Micheaux \u2013 The Superhero of Black Filmmaking\u201d \u2013 Zippel\u2019s De Sica portrait delves into the life, work and legacy of this leading figure of Italy\u2019s neo-realist movement who won four Oscars and is known for classics such as \u201cThe Bicycle Thief,\u201d \u201cYesterday, Today, and Tomorrow,\u201d and \u201cTwo Women.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tFor this piece Zippel had exclusive access to the De Sica family and previously unseen archival materials. \u201cVittorio De Sica \u2013 Staging Life\u201d also features interviews with Wes Anderson<\/a> \u2013 who also serves as executive producer \u2013 Isabella Rossellini, Ruben \u00d6stlund, Asghar Farhadi and Andrey Zvyagintsev, among other prominent film personalities. The doc is described in promotional materials as \u201can intimate and multifaceted portrait of an author capable of transforming the observation of reality into universal emotion.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI am proud that this film, dedicated to one of the most illustrious figures in the history of cinema and of twentieth-century Italy, will have its world premiere at Cannes in an edition marked by a strong and prestigious auteur focus,\u201d said Zippel in a statement. \u201cVittorio De Sica is a treasure of world cinema, an artist who has inspired entire generations of directors and actors from every corner of the globe, and I am certain that Cannes will be only the first step in a wonderful journey for our film,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cWe are proud that Francesco Zippel\u2019s film will have its world premiere at Cannes Classics and will represent Italy as the only Italian film,\u201d noted the doc\u2019s producer\u00a0Federica Paniccia.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cVittorio De Sica \u2013 Staging Life,\u201d which is produced by Paniccia and Zippel, features an original score by Rodrigo D\u2019Erasmo and Calibro 35, and is edited by Michele Castelli. The doc is a Quoiat Films production in association with Luce Cinecitt\u00e0, Movimenti Production, and Sky Italia.<\/p>\n
