Authorities had been sent to the scene in reference to a suicide. Her husband, Lee Gilley, made the 911 call.<\/p>\n

In his call, Gilley explained to dispatch that his wife overdosed. He said that Bauer Gilley went to bed after the pair had an argument, according to court documents.<\/p>\n

Three hours later, Gilley said he found her unconscious and tried to resuscitate her.<\/p>\n

Bauer Gilley was pronounced dead at a hospital. Both a hospital physician and medical examiner noted she had injuries indicating strangulation, records show.<\/p>\n

An autopsy confirmed those suspicions \u2014 her cause of death was determined as compression of the neck.<\/p>\n

Bauer Gilley was a longtime Summerville resident and still has a multitude of family and friends in the area, The Post and Courier previously reported<\/a>. She and a close-knit group of Summerville High School alums stayed friends long after graduation and celebrated important life milestones together.<\/p>\n

Her husband admitted to law enforcement that Bauer Gilley had not been suicidal nor a drug user, court records show.<\/p>\n

Lee Gilley was arrested on Oct. 11, 2024, and charged with capital murder, which carries a potential death sentence or life in prison, according to Texas penal codes.<\/p>\n

He posted a $1 million bail on Oct. 19, 2024, on the conditions of house arrest, GPS monitoring and no contact with his children or Bauer Gilley\u2019s family members. Gilley was also required to surrender his U.S. passport, according to court records.<\/p>\n

Since then, Gilley\u2019s defense has made a few different requests for permission for Gilley to travel to South Carolina. One attempt, to visit his family in Fountain Inn for Thanksgiving was denied.<\/p>\n

Between April 1 and April 5, a Texas judge allowed him to return to South Carolina to visit his mother, who was in \u201cdire condition\u201d with an illness, court documents showed.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Authorities had been sent to the scene in reference to a suicide.
