Deputy Premier and Foreign Minister
\nAntonio Tajani said Friday that he told United States Secretary
\nof State Marco Rubio that Italy, Europe and the USA need each
\nother during their bilateral meeting in Rome.

\n\t\t\t\t“I’m convinced that Europe needs America, Italy needs America,
\nbut also that the United States needs Europe and Italy,” Tajani
\ntold reporters after what he described as a “positive” meeting.
\n
\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0
\n\t\t\t\t“I reiterated the importance of Western unity and of
\ntransatlantic relations, which are fundamental for us,” Tajani
\nsaid.

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0
\n\t\t\t\tThe minister added he told Rubio that Italy supports all
\ninitiatives that can lead to a permanent ceasefire in the Middle
\nEast and encourages “dialogue”.

\n\t\t\t\tHe also said Italy’s was willing to use its Navy for
\nmine-sweeping operations in the Strait of Hormuz once a
\nceasefire is agreed.

\n\t\t\t\tTajani said he reiterated Italy’s “willingness to be present in
\nLebanon in the future too in order to play an important role in
\nensuring stability, also to strengthen the Lebanese armed and
\nregular forces, which we are already doing with our bilateral
\nmission”.
