Jenny Mollen penned a reflective Memorial Day essay on her Substack lamenting that she has always felt \u201cin a rush\u201d through life<\/p>\n

\u201cI leave for Italy on Wednesday, which sounds soooo Eat, Pray, Love considering the current state of my life,\u201d shared Mollen<\/p>\n

A rep for the actress and her husband Jason Biggs confirmed on May 14 that the two were separating after 18 years of marriage and were focused on coparenting their two sons<\/p>\n

Jenny Mollen<\/a> is breaking her silence following her split<\/a> from Jason Biggs<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In a new essay titled \u201cDon’t Tell Me What It Is,\u201d posted on Monday, May 25 on her Substack<\/a> The Best Friend Experience with Jenny Mollen, the 46-year-old actress-writer reflected on rushing through life and her experiences feeling \u201ca little temporary, like a waiting room I’m trapped in before an operation.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen you’re young and ambitious, or maybe just middle-aged with ADHD, it feels impossible to appreciate anything while you’re in it,\u201d she shared. \u201cI was in a rush to grow up, a rush to graduate college, a rush to land a TV show, and a billboard outside my ex-boyfriend’s apartment.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mollen continued: \u201cThe highest highs of my life have all hit like pennies disappearing into a bottomless well. I’d wait- maybe a moment or two for the sound of something landing, but before it ever did, I was on to the next. Hoping that the next thing would finally be the one that cured me- the one that made me feel worthy and validated in a way that has always evaded me.\u201d<\/p>\n

Although she did not name Biggs, 48, directly, Mollen subtly acknowledged the recent split from her husband. \u201cI leave for Italy on Wednesday, which sounds soooo Eat, Pray, Love<\/a> considering the current state of my life,\u201d she wrote, referring to Elizabeth Gilbert’s hit 2006 memoir chronicling a reflective trip around the world including Italy.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut I’m not going to find myself or sleep with some beautiful Italian stranger,\u201d quipped Mollen, who shares sons<\/a> Sid, 12, and Lazlo, 8, with Biggs. \u201cI already have two half-Italians at home. I’m actually just going because a friend invited me to her birthday party. It also happens to be my birthday as well.\u201d<\/p>\n

A rep for Mollen and Biggs confirmed to PEOPLE exclusively on May 14 that the couple had separated, though they remain on “great terms” and are focused on coparenting. “They are very much connected,” the source said. “I have no doubt that they will remain on excellent terms.”<\/p>\n

The two actors met on the set of the 2008 movie My Best Friend’s Girl and were engaged in January of that year. The couple eloped in a private ceremony that April.<\/p>\n

Mollen and Biggs have worked together onscreen as recently as in Jill Kargman’s comedy Influenced<\/a>, in select theaters as of May 8.<\/p>\n
