{"id":23835,"date":"2026-06-11T10:17:15","date_gmt":"2026-06-11T10:17:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/italy\/23835\/"},"modified":"2026-06-11T10:17:15","modified_gmt":"2026-06-11T10:17:15","slug":"rapidus-to-cooperate-with-british-and-italian-institutions","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/italy\/23835\/","title":{"rendered":"Rapidus to cooperate with British and Italian institutions"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Japanese semiconductor company Rapidus will sign agreements with public institutions in Britain and Italy on research and development cooperation, Rapidus executives told Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>The signing will coincide with Takaichi\u2019s trip to Europe starting Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>Briefing Takaichi at the prime minister\u2019s office in Tokyo, Rapidus President Atsuyoshi Koike said that the company, which aims to mass-produce state-of-the-art semiconductors, will \u201cwork hand-in-hand with Europe to make the first step toward the discovery of a new world and new technologies that have never been seen before.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Rapidus will exchange memorandums of understanding on the cooperation with U.K. Semiconductor Center, which supports the British chip industry through funding by the British government, and Fondazione Chips-IT, an Italian government research institute.<\/p>\n<p>The MoUs are expected to cover collaborations over technologies and research for manufacturing cutting-edge semiconductors. The Japanese government will back Rapidus\u2019 efforts, with an eye toward developing sales channels in the two European countries.<\/p>\n<p>At Thursday\u2019s meeting, Takaichi said, \u201cI hope to promote (related efforts), mainly among like-minded nations.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Japanese government has already decided to provide a total of around \u00a52.4 trillion ($15 billion) in aid to Rapidus.<\/p>\n<p>The company aims to start mass-producing 2-nanometer chips in fiscal 2027.
