{"id":28212,"date":"2026-06-29T12:22:15","date_gmt":"2026-06-29T12:22:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/italy\/28212\/"},"modified":"2026-06-29T12:22:15","modified_gmt":"2026-06-29T12:22:15","slug":"action-opens-new-distribution-centre-in-italy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/italy\/28212\/","title":{"rendered":"Action Opens New Distribution Centre In Italy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"p1\">Dutch non-food discounter Action has announced that it has opened a new distribution centre in Ferentino, Italy.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The new facility is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.esmmagazine.com\/tag\/action\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Action\u2019s<\/a> nineteenth\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.esmmagazine.com\/tag\/distribution-centre\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">distribution centre<\/a> in Europe, <a href=\"https:\/\/company.action.com\/pressreleases\/action-opens-second-permanent-distribution-center-in-italy\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">highlighting<\/a> the retailer\u2019s continued investment in its supply chain.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Maurizio Oprandi, general manager of Action in Italy, said, \u201cWe are very happy to open our second Action owned distribution centre in Ferentino, almost five and a half years after introducing our first store in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.esmmagazine.com\/tag\/italy\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Italy<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cCustomers have welcomed us warmly, and we are happy that we can bring the Action formula closer to them\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Focus On Sustainability<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The new centre was built in line with Action\u2019s focus on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.esmmagazine.com\/tag\/sustainability\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">sustainability<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Operating without gas, the Ferentino site aims to receive BREEAM (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method) \u2018Outstanding\u2019 certification.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The facility uses solar panels for heating water and photovoltaic panels to generate electricity.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">In addition, Action has implemented intelligent energy and water metres, LED lighting and electric vehicle charging stations at the new distribution centre.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Jens Burgers, director of supply chain at Action, said, \u201cI am also very proud this distribution center continues to set an example in terms of sustainability.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cEvery aspect of the facility, from construction materials to installed equipment, has been sustainable designed for ecological and environmentally friendly operations.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Partnership With GXO<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">For the new distribution centre, Action partnered with logistics service provider <a href=\"https:\/\/www.esmmagazine.com\/tag\/gxo-logistics\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">GXO Logistics<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Alessandro Renzo, managing director of GXO Italy, commented, \u201cIt is a source of pride for GXO to support Action in this important phase of growth in Italy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Action aims to accelerate growth in the region with the new facility.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Burgers added, \u201cDC Ferentino offers us a great central location for the distribution of Action\u2019s growing store network in the center and the south of Italy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The retailer currently operates 235 stores in Italy, employing approximately 5000 people.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Dutch non-food discounter Action has announced that it has opened a new distribution centre in Ferentino, Italy.
