US Ambassador
\nto Beirut Michel Issa revealed on Thursday that delegations from Lebanon, the
\nUnited States, and Israel will meet in Rome on July 14 and 15 to follow up on
\nthe implementation of the Lebanon-Israel framework agreement, pointing out that
\nthe shift to Rome was for technical reasons.<\/p>\n
The Rome
\nmeeting will be organizational and executive in nature, focused on forming
\nspecialized working groups to implement arrangements agreed upon in Washington,
\nIssa said. Further meetings will follow in Rome or elsewhere to track
\nimplementation across the agreed phases.<\/p>\n
A US military
\ndelegation will arrive in Beirut within days to coordinate and define field
\nimplementation mechanisms, particularly regarding pilot areas identified during
\nthe Washington negotiations. \u201cNo vacuum should occur when Israeli forces
\nwithdraw from the designated area, and implementation timelines will be set
\nfollowing those coordination meetings.\u201d<\/p>\n
Lebanese
\nPresident Joseph Aoun, scheduled to visit Wadhinghton on July 21, stressed the
\nnecessity of pressing Israel to halt military operations and commit to the
\nframework agreement announced at the conclusion of the Lebanese-American-Israeli
\nnegotiations in Washington.<\/p>\n
