Francesco Patton lays out St. Francis\u2019 example of how Christians &#8230;\n     <\/p>\n<p>In his <a href=\"https:\/\/press.vatican.va\/content\/salastampa\/it\/bollettino\/pubblico\/2026\/04\/03\/0257\/00553.html#en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"external nofollow noopener\">meditations<\/a>, Fr. Patton lays out St. Francis\u2019 example of how Christians can incarnate the theological virtues of faith, hope, and love in the real world.<\/p>\n<p>He takes us along Jesus\u2019 original path through the narrow streets of Jerusalem up to Golgotha for His crucifixion and burial.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs in the time of Jesus,\u201d he says, \u201cwe find ourselves walking through a chaotic, distracting and noisy environment, surrounded by people who share our faith in Him, but also by those who deride or insult Him.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Way of the Cross is not intended for those who lead a pristinely pious or abstractly recollected life,\u201d says Fr. Patton decries the human presumption of power and our temptation to abuse it.<\/p>\n<p>We see our revulsion of the Cross revealed and our desire to seek glory instead of humility.<\/p>\n<p>As Jesus falls three times, Fr. Patton reminds us that we must trust in Him to lift us up to the Father through the powerlessness of love.<\/p>\n<p>He points out how authoritarian regimes, the indifferent media, and our own morbid curiousity strip others naked and thereby debase our own human dignity.<\/p>\n<p>As Mary witnesses her Son\u2019s death, Fr.
